weltwärts - Assistant Teacher

Being part of a team of local and volunteer teachers and teaching German, English and/or other subjects in a Senior Secondary School and supporting the educational team in the local kindergarten

3. Project description and background:
ASTOVOT is an NGO which exists since 1957 and has a long experience in organising workcamps and long term voluntary services. By carrying out its activities, ASTOVOT has the objective to promote:
1. The participation of anyone, especially the young and the most disadvantaged people, to a social life on local, national and international level.
2. A development of the individual and his environment and patrimony.
3. The development of intercultural exchanges by bringing together volunteers with different nationalities aiming an interactive learning experience.
4. Primary health care activities in the fight against STD/HIV/ AIDS.
5. Schooling and blossoming of children.
6. Rendering literate young and old people.

Up to this day, the association has contributed to the realisation of more than a hundred school buildings, twenty health centres and public toilets, literacy courses and schooling sessions; sessions promoting the social and educative development of children; reforestation in the most damaged regions of Togo; and artistic and cultural activities.

4. Work and tasks of the volunteer:
Help the teachers to guide the children in different activities. Work with children in the different workshops (modelling workshop: making of different things for drawing, games, talk, tales and songs dance and music). Volunteers will also mainly participate to extra curricula activities: creating or helping Environmental club, English club and German club in Senior or Junior Schools in AGOU DISTRICT.

Be a good team-player, desirous of teaching, love children Teaching skills, guiding and counselling skills, skills in extracurricular activities

Number of volunteers planned in each project: 2. In total there are 5 schools for a total of 10 volunteers
